High-performance homes. Lower energy demand.

An energy-efficient home isn't created by adding technology. It starts with how you build it.

At Urban Eco Homes, our approach to high-performance construction begins with the building fabric. We specialise in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF), combining it with carefully designed insulation, airtightness, ventilation, heating and renewable-energy systems to create homes that use less energy while providing exceptional levels of comfort.

A smarter, more comfortable way to live

Before deciding how to heat a home, we believe you should first consider how to stop that heat escaping. ICF construction uses lightweight interlocking insulating forms to create the external walls of the building. Reinforced concrete is poured within the forms, which remain permanently in place as part of the completed wall.

The result is a highly insulated, incredibly strong building structure with excellent potential for airtightness and reduced thermal bridging.

The key benefits

Thermal performance

High level of insulation and careful detailing help maintain a stable, comfortable temperature all year around.

Airtightness

A well-sealed building envelope reduces uncontrolled air leakage and heat loss.

Reduced heat loss

Minimising thermal bridges and using high-performance systems keeps more heat where it belongs which is inside.

Indoor comfort

Consistent temperatures, cleaner air and fewer drafts create healthier, more comfortable living spaces.

Long-term efficiency

Lower energy demand can help reduce running costs and future-proofs your home for a changing climate.

The building envelope

A high performance building envelope is the foundation of a low energy home. It combines insulation, airtightness, quality windows and careful detailing to minimise heat loss and maximise comfort.

IZODOM insulated construction systems

We use IZODOM insulated concrete form (ICF) systems to create a highly insulated, durable and energy-efficient structure. These systems combine insulation and solid concrete for excellent thermal performance and long-term resilience.

Compatible renewable technologies

The best energy is the energy your home doesn't need. A conventional approach often starts by asking, 'How do we heat this house?' We start with a different question: 'How little heating can we make this house need?'

By combining ICF with high-performance windows and doors, considered orientation, careful junction detailing, reduced thermal bridging and high levels of airtightness, we can significantly reduce heat loss. Once we've reduced the demand, we design the technology around what the building actually needs.
