Flood-Resilient ICF New Build
A highly technical new-build home designed to withstand a 1-in-1,000-year flood event, requiring a completely different approach to a conventional residential build.
The entire ground-floor structure was designed and constructed as a waterproof, flood-resilient zone, with the main living accommodation elevated to first-floor level. The property is effectively built on stilts, allowing it to respond to its challenging flood-risk location while still delivering a striking contemporary family home.
The superstructure was constructed using the Izodom ICF system by Econekt, combined with Posi-Joist intermediate floors and high-performance Internorm windows and doors to create an exceptionally well-insulated and energy-efficient building envelope.
Externally, a carefully considered combination of natural stone slips, standing-seam metal cladding and render gives the property a distinctive modern appearance while complementing its rural setting.
This project showcases the ability to deliver technically demanding homes using ICF, where structural engineering, waterproofing, energy efficiency and architectural detailing all need to work together from the outset.
