Bespoke Low-Energy ICF Home
This striking five-bedroom family home arranged over three floors was delivered by Urban Eco Homes using Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) to create a highly insulated, airtight and energy-efficient building envelope. The contemporary design combines timber cladding, crisp render and extensive glazing, including a dramatic full-height glazed entrance that floods the centre of the home with natural light.
The property incorporates a comprehensive low-energy specification including MVHR, an air source heat pump, underfloor heating and solar PV. Combined with the high-performance ICF structure, these technologies help minimise heat loss, reduce energy demand and provide a comfortable and efficient home throughout the year.
One of the key challenges for Urban Eco Homes was coordinating the extensive services within the three-storey ICF structure. MVHR ductwork, heating, home automation, intelligent lighting, multi-room audio and automated blinds all required careful planning, with service routes and penetrations considered before finishes commenced to protect the airtightness and thermal performance of the building.
Internally, a standout feature is the floating staircase, which required careful coordination between the structural design, lighting and surrounding finishes. Technology has been discreetly integrated throughout, allowing the finished home to retain the clean lines and uncluttered spaces central to the architectural design.
The completed property showcases Urban Eco Homes’ expertise in delivering bespoke, low-energy homes, bringing together specialist ICF construction, renewable technology, intelligent home automation and contemporary architecture within one carefully coordinated build.
